A clinical diagnosis of ADD is one in which the physician is satisfied that the majority of the inattentive ADD criteria are being met with excessive difficulty. These factors must be persistently problematic at home and school, serious and producing impairment, and there must be no alternative reason for the child's or adult's inattention. Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) is a term used to describe persons who have extreme difficulties concentrating without other ADHD symptoms such as impulsiveness or hyperactivity. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual IV, the official name is "ADHD of the predominantly inattentive type." In practice, though, ADD is a far more suitable word. For youngsters with ADD, educational solutions are always necessary. Teachers' awareness, cues to assist the child refocus, and keeping teachings as bright and entertaining as possible in short moments of concentration are all beneficial. The child should be seated near the front of the classroom. However, in children with severe ADD, educational techniques alone are frequently ineffective.
