Hypertension is a common condition in which the long-term pressure of blood against the walls of the arteries is high enough to cause health problems like heart disease. Blood pressure is determined by both the amount of blood the heart pumps and the resistance to blood flow in the arteries. The more blood your heart pumps and the narrower your arteries, the higher your blood pressure. BP has become a big deal for many of us lately.
