Rheumatoid Arthritis destroys the lining of the joints, causing joint pain and swelling and leading to bone erosion and joint deformity. Inflammation causes damage to other parts of the body. It causes physical disabilities that affect other parts of the body such as the skin, lungs, kidneys, blood vessels, and liver. In the initial stages, it affects small joints. It then spread to the knees, ankles, and elbows. The autoimmune system, in which the immune system damages healthy joint tissue, causes rheumatoid diseases.
